Privacy Policy
In the course of its activities, Disclose collects and processes information that may be described as “personal data”. The information collected depends on whether you visit our site, subscribe to one of our newsletters, make a donation, or answer a questionnaire.
In all cases, Disclose undertakes to collect only the information strictly necessary to provide quality web content, to send newsletters and to manage your donations. We never sell your personal data to third parties. It is used exclusively for our own marketing purposes and to improve our services.
In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to access, rectify and delete your data, which you can exercise by writing to us at: [email protected]
When you visit our site
The disclose.ngo website is hosted in Switzerland by Infomaniak. We use CloudFlare to improve its speed and security.
Disclose does not carry out any audience measurement. No cookies are deposited for this purpose when you visit our site.
Site pages may, however, include embedded content, such as videos, maps, images or social networking posts from other sites. This content behaves in the same way as if the visitor were visiting these sites, and may therefore lead to the collection of data by them. In particular, our site uses integrated content from the following services:
- YouTube (from Google LLC) enables us to integrate videos.
- Mapbox is used to integrate interactive maps.
- Flourish (from Canva) is used to integrate interactive maps and graphics.
- X (from X Corp.) is used to integrate publications from this social network.
- DocumentCloud (from the NGO MuckRock, which uses Amazon Web Services and CloudFlare) is used to integrate PDF documents.
When you subscribe to one of our newsletters
When you enter your e-mail address to subscribe to one of our newsletters, it is forwarded to our e-mail service provider Brevo, as well as to our contact management application Ohme. We use links containing standard UTM parameters (utm_source and utm_campaign) that are transmitted and recorded by Brevo so that we can track the source of your registration. You can remove these parameters from the URL if you do not wish to share this information with us.
In addition to our newsletters, we may use your address to send you e-mails about our donation campaigns. By clicking on the two links at the bottom of our e-mails, you can either choose to receive only certain e-mails (editorial newsletters, impact newsletters, donation appeals), or unsubscribe from all our mailings.
Your e-mail address is kept indefinitely unless you have unsubscribed from our database, objected to the processing of your data or your e-mail address has become obsolete.
When you make a donation
Disclose does not process donations directly on its website, but uses Donorbox, itself connected to two payment solutions:
- First, when you register on our donation form before proceeding to payment, your e-mail address, postal address and first and last name are transferred to Donorbox.
- Then, when you proceed to payment, your e-mail address, first and last name and bank details are transmitted to a payment service provider: Stripe, if you opt for payment by credit card or SEPA direct debit, or PayPal, if you prefer the latter solution.
- If you choose to pay by check or cash, your mailing address and email address will be shared with Ohme and Brevo so that they can issue and send you your tax receipt via email.
Once your donation has been made, your e-mail address is sent to our e-mail service provider Brevo, as well as to our contact management application Ohme, so that we can keep you informed of future donation campaigns.
We use your postal address to fill in your annual tax receipt (your address is required for your donation to be tax-deductible). In addition, if you tick the appropriate box, we can use your postal address to send you a letter once or twice a year in connection with our donation campaigns.
When you answer a questionnaire
Occasionally, Disclose offers online questionnaires via its newsletter to collect your suggestions and your opinion on our publications. These questionnaires are hosted on Tally and Airtable. Only if you choose to fill them in will we collect your first name and e-mail address. Otherwise, completion of these questionnaires is entirely anonymous.
